Neighborhood and Community Services

If you are in need of assistance with information about and/or community services, L.I.N.K.S. may offer those services or direct you to agencies in the local community offering aid.  Highlights of daily services: student tutoring, senior programming, neighborhood watch, community outreaches, special projects, day camps, overnight family camps, referrals, emergency food,  household items, access to computers and community meetings. L.I.N.K.S. extends the opportunity for groups or individual to volunteer and all you have to do is contact our office, there is always something to do.

L.I.N.K.S. Boys & Girls After-School Academy

Free after-school tutoring, mentoring, hot meal and supportive services for families with students who are struggling academically and attend one of two Akron Public Schools located in the Middlebury footprint (Robinson CLC and Mason CLC ).

Community  Reinvestment/Outreach Events

Each year, L.I.N.K.S. finds ways to improve the look of our 16-block neighborhood with rehab, neighborhood watch, fall and winter distributions, beautification projects and quarterly community events.

MEICHV Program

From birth to kindergarten entry, develop and implement evidence-based, voluntary program 

Goals for every program are to:

  • improve maternal and child health,
  • prevent child abuse and neglect,
  • encourage positive parenting, and
  • promote child development and school readiness.
National Fatherhood Initiative Program:  
The vision is for every child to grow up 
with an involved, responsible, and committed father.

LINKS Community Garden:

Each year students from the Middlebury area participate at the community garden. They receive an educational sessions and they get to personalized rows in the garden with vegetables and fruit that they like.

Seniors from the neighborhood also  receive plots and free seed to create their own garden.

LINKS Beautification Project:

At the beginning of springs LINKS brings the seniors and our youth from the neighborhood together to plant flowers in planters and place them on the street corners in the neighborhood.  Residents look forward to seeing the planters and they help with the watering throughout the summer.
